Parent Involvement Opportunities:

  • Classroom Volunteers – These volunteers assist the teachers in different ways.
  • SSC (School Site Council ) – This council meets once per month and is open to all parents to attend the meetings.
  • ELAC) English Learner Advisory Council – This council meets once per month and is for the parents of our English Learners that are classified as LEP (Limited English Proficient). However, any parents can attend the meetings.
  • Safety Valet Volunteers - These volunteers help out in front of the school. They help students exit their cars when they are dropped off.
  • Supervision Volunteers – These volunteers could help supervise students out on the yard, in the morning before school, at recess or at lunch. On rainy days they help with supervision in the hallways and Multi Purpose Room when and if the students eat inside.
  • Back to School Night - This is an opportunity for parents to learn about individual classroom rules and expectations. Grade level standards are distributed at Back to School  Night.
  • Halloween Parade – Parents are invited to come and see our Halloween parade. Individual teachers MAY ask for assistance from one or two parents.
  • Parent Conferences -  This is an opportunity for you to learn about your child’s progress in school. Teachers will share information with you and you will have an opportunity to ask questions.
  • Holiday Program/ International Day – Parents are invited to come and see their children, sing, dance and recite poems during these celebrations.
  • Read Across America – In celebration of Dr. Seuss’ birthday, volunteers read a Dr. Seuss book in a classroom. This event takes place in the spring.
  • Field trips -  We sometimes need 1 or 2 parents to accompany a class on a field trip for extra supervision.
  • Parent Workshops – Our Community Representative offers parent trainings on different topics throughout the school year. Flyers are sent home when one is being offered.
  • Parent Training- Some of our teachers volunteer to offer training for our parents. The training is offered to the parents of certain grade levels during the school year. 
  • Special Parent Meetings - Informational meetings are scheduled throughout the school year. Parents will be advised of these meetings as they come up throughout the school year.
  • Book Fair – We always need help during the book fair.  See our coordinator if you would like to help.
